Sozo

sozoIf you want to know more about that word click for more.

Sozo is a Greek word used 101 times in the new testament. It means to save, to heal, and to deliver. There are other meanings but they all fit under these three. The bible tells us that Jesus came to save (Sozo) us (See John 3:17).

Do you know that you can’t save yourself? The bible says For what profit is it to a man if he gains the whole world, and loses his own soul? Or what will a man give in exchange for his soul?” (Matthew 16:26 Emphasis added)

Have you ever thought about that question? What will you give in exchange for your soul? Remember that after Adam fell into sin (disobedience to God’s word) His soul, spirit, and body died. His soul was no longer an holy and perfect one yet it became evil because he surrendered to the devil who is the chief of evil. Even if your parents baptized you when you were a baby this doesn’t mean you are a Christian. You should experience the second birth (which happens when you confess your sins to God and ask Him to be your personal savior and Lord) before you be baptized in water. So until you are born again your soul is in the devil’s hand not God’s. I’m sorry if this shocks you but if you are shocked I thank God it happened before you leave this earth.

Beloved, I have good news for you. Jesus died to restore (Sozo) your soul. Because of Adam’s sin the same consequences followed all his offspring which are sickness, bondage, and death (spiritually: eternity in hell; psychologically: emotional ups and downs… and physically: one day your heart will stop beating and your body will return to dust). That’s the bad news. The good news is Jesus on the cross conquered sickness, bondage, and death. Now because of His blood and grace even though you still die physically but your spirit is alive. Your body will return to dust but He had promised us new bodies–glorified bodies. If you gave your life to Jesus, the Holy Spirit comes and resurrects your spirit in the same way He resurrected Jesus from the dead and He will change your eternal destiny. If you don’t ask for His forgiveness, if you don’t submit to His Lordship your spirit will remain dead and is headed to hell for ever. But you can change your destiny. The door is open to you. Ask the Father to save you. Salvation is a free gift from God to you. You can’t purchase it by good deeds. (See Ephesians 2:8-9)

Pray to God and ask Him to give you His promise of the eternal life.

Jesus died to deliver you from Satan’s bondage. Are you still struggling with that sin? You feel like you are not able to let it go. Well in this area I’m speaking to myself before speaking to you. You might be born again and filled with the Holy Spirit but you are still struggling with a kind of sin. Jesus died so we can be free. He said “. . . if the Son makes you free, you shall be free indeed” (John 8:36). Confess this sin to God and work hard to get rid of it. Ask for the Holy Spirit’s help for Jesus said about Him that He is the helper (John 14:16). The word Helper is the Greek word paraklētos (par-ak’-lay-tos ). Thayer’s defines this word as “called to one’s side, especially called to one’s aid”.

The Holy Spirit is here for your aid.

The last meaning of Sozo is to heal. Jesus died on the cross to give you a good health. He wants to heal you. One of God’s names is Jehova Raffa which means I am the Lord your healer. He is the healer you are looking for. In Isaiah chapter 53 we read “in His stripes we are healed” (verse 5). If you have a sickness or disease, believe today for your healing. God wants to heal you. Don’t tell Him how to heal you, just ask Him to heal you. He will find the right way and timing. The most important thing is to ask in faith. Faith has no doubt. Faith is certain. Come to God in faith and ask Him for your healing, salvation, and freedom. Blessings.
