In Genesis 27:20 Jacob used the name of the Lord to lie to His father Isaac. What a sin! He said “the Lord your God put it [the goat] in my path” while he didn’t even go hunting. He got it from his father’s flock. Yet after he fled away from His brother, God appeared to him and said:“the ground you are lying on belongs to you. I am giving it to you and your descendants” (Genesis 28:13). After few more promises God said: “I am with you, and i will protect you wherever you go. One day i will bring you back to this land. I will not leave you until i have finished giving you everything i have promised you” (verse 15). Wow! Jacob just used God’s name to trick his father and get his son’s blessing, but it seems that God forgot this right away and he came to Jacob with a wonderful promise.
Even if we sin and fall, God’s mercy is still greater to forgive and forget and His grace is still greater to give us great promises and remains until all of them are fulfilled. Hallelujah!
God doesn’t hate you! He loves you so much that He died so you can live. Live the life He has called and expect you to live. Amen!
